About Halfpint Honey Badger
Our Core Values
People First | Lead by Example | Integrity in Everything | Enjoy the Journey
Motivation is Optional, Action is Essential
To provide the highest quality of coach to client relationships and realistic, education-based fitness and nutrition solutions for every person willing to put forth the continued effort to elevate and take responsibility for their lives and their health.
Our Training Philosophy
Less than a few percent of people who start a fitness journey achieve their initial goal;
And only a fraction of that percent keep their results.
Everyone has a different starting point.
Our goal is to give you the necessary tools in your mental toolbox to be able to stay on track with fitness easily and permanently by:
1. Creating sustainable habits 2. Learning movement patterns to properly isolate targeted muscle groups and 3. Create a base of metabolically active muscle tissue
These three crucial steps will prevent injury and support an optimal quality of life.
All of our training programs focus on these essential elements:
Education | Balance and Stability | Power and Speed
Endurance and Cardiovascular Health | Strength and Muscle Definition
Oh, and we like to have a LOT of fun along the way. You will also learn:
Exercise and Equipment Substitutions | How to schedule your workout days according to your lifestyle and goals | What to do when you "fall off the wagon" | Proper warm-ups, form and technique, and cool-down and recovery | How to stay consistent while traveling, on vacation, and over the holidays
Our Nutrition Philosophy
Two Words: Food. Freedom.
We want you to be able to confidently plan a day without obsessing, walk through the holidays or special events without falling off OR restricting, be able to look at a restaurant menu and know what the best option is for you, and not have to live your life restricted to an app or meal plan.
We give you as many tools or training wheels as you need to get there, but you will learn:
- Macros; What they are, Where they come from, and How your body uses them
- How to fuel for (and recover from) your workouts
- How to navigate "cheat" meals
- How to work healthy meals and snacks around
How We Started
(in Brenna's own words)
You know those scenarios where people explain a movie plot poorly? This would be ours:
"Girl from Alaska wilderness gets kicked out of the Marine Corps for being a raging alcoholic and kind of accidentally starts a fitness company."
Hi, I'm girl-from-Alaska-wilderness, or Brenna. Or @halfpint_honey_badger on Instagram. Let me explain.
You can read my backstory on the About HPHB, but Victoriam Performance was the original name of the company that I visualized and started back in 2018. I had just gotten out of the Marine Corps and moved to California with my (now) husband, Seth, who is still an active duty Marine. It was a super inconvenient time in my life- I had a degree in culinary arts and one in business, and wanted nothing to do with either. Also getting sober was the most fun I never want to have again. Because I didn't like listening to other people, and I needed money, the immediate answer seemed to be to work for myself. I had abs, so I started a fitness company. That seemed logical.
It was only going to be for a few months until I found a real job...
or my life's purpose...
I ended up finding a very real job, my life's purpose, sobriety, and serenity all in the same place: in serving people.
I sunk almost $20k into getting the business off the ground - I made a TON of mistakes, Googled and YouTubed almost everything, and had a couple of really good mentors. I did end up working for a brick and mortar health club in California for a little over a year, but when we got orders to move to Texas I decided that sink or swim, I was going to be my own boss. So I didn't apply for a new job after we moved and invested all of my time and money (again) into building the business.
We started out doing only downloadable PDF training programs, then higher dollar custom personal training plans. That was about the time Jacki sent me a message on Instagram that said "I think you need a personal assistant and I think it should be me." and hired herself. She has been my right-hand woman, personal assistant, sanity checker, and steadfast lifeline ever since.
Everyone needs a Jacki.
Last year we added the $1 programs, and at the same time the personal training was growing out of control; I was absolutely maxed out. So we cut personal training, but kept (I would say greatly improved) the quality of the custom and one-on-one help that everyone gets. Halfpint_Honey_Badger was my Instagram handle and it stuck so well with our people that it became the rebranding of my company and the team's namesake.
We have multiplied the company repeatedly since making the decision to put people first no matter what, and let the results fall where they may.
Why Are We Different?
Today we have a team of four, an AMAZING Facebook community, and additional options when it comes to custom training and nutrition. But our premise remains the same: leave every person better than we found them, by giving you permanent tools to help you better manage your health, your relationships, your job performance....your whole life, really. "It's more than fitness" has become an unfortunate cliché, because the reality is that when you become vulnerable enough to do really hard work and continuously make difficult changes, it takes a village. It takes people to lift you up, coaches to guide, educate and sanity check you (I still have three different coaches that I pay for to help me in life - improvement is continuous)... And the results impact your family, your loved ones, your future goals, your financial wellbeing, your co-workers...everything. The effort and the end results are both about far more than just macros and cardio. So while we want to equip you with everything you'll need to not need us anymore- we hope you'll stay because you found a spot that feels like home.
Our team knows our people by name.
We have celebrated together.
Checked in on each other.
And just done a lot of life together!
Because what better thing is there than surrounding yourself with people who want to see you win as much as (a lot of the time, more than) you do?
Why Join The Facebook Group?
To put it simply: Community and Education
I could give you the numbers, but I will just say that the correlation between those who participate in the Facebook group (passively or actively) and those who have long-term success (achieving their goals and then successfully shifting into maintenance and sustaining those results) is direct.
Lots of words:
- Free workouts: some gym, some home, any level
- Weekly live workouts (and the recordings to do later!)
- Form checks
- Weekly macro-ready menus complete with shopping lists
- Special event and fun recipes (summer grilling, lightened up Superbowl snacks, etc)
- Learn when/how to take a rest day
- Work around setbacks/injuries
- Get tons of daily ideas from dozens of other people who are also working on their best life
- Play a lot of fun games (I give out thousands of dollars in prizes every month and we have the best time)
- Learn the truth behind hundreds of fitness myths
- Hear other people's struggles, stories and experiences
How and Why to Book A Call
Two reasons: I don't bite and I want to get to know you! The easiest way for you to be able to tell me what is going on, and for us to decide what would be a good fit for you, is to chat! It's a quick, 15-minute initial call where we go over your training history, talk about what life looks like for you, and decide on some initial steps to start getting you where you want to go. It's also important that you leave the call knowing how and where to get help, and feeling confident that there are real people who want to see you win. If you hate talking on the phone with strangers, you aren't alone - I promise I'm super nice and I'll keep the corny jokes to a minimum. :) Book a Call Here
Here you can find the most frequent asked questions.
The workouts in my app (that you need a link from me to download) are written by myself or Team HPHB coaches, and are able to be altered or customized to what you need. You have multiple program options for any situation, an the app individually tracks your progress in different areas so that we have data to show where you are progressing and where we still need work.
The workouts in the MyTransphormationApp are written by 1stPhorm coaches and are much more generic, since they are written for such a broad audience. I have no control over them and am not able to readily give substitutions or assistance with them. They also are not tracked for progress reports.
Well, considering that 90% of the resources that you are looking for are in the Facebook group, I would get a ghost account that you use just for improving your life. Believe it or not, you can have social media without adding friends or scrolling.
Set up a call with me if you have not already, read through the Nutrition, Macro and Recipe guides in the Facebook group, and download the free nutrition guide that pops up when you come to this site!
Absolutely. Many, many of our people struggle or have struggled with this in one form or another, including several of our coaches. You are in a safe space to heal with us. To read Brenna's story, go into the group and search "eating disorders", and set up a call so that we can chat with you! We want to support you through this and see you have total food freedom and healing.
Yep!! We have about a 50/50 split of men and women in our programs, since we started out training mostly military!
Book a call, book a call, book a call. Here's the link. We can help any situation. Don't overthink it or overwhelm yourself- do one thing and set aside 15 minutes to chat with us.
